Why You Must Play Rise of the Tomb Raider on Xbox One X

Rise of the Tomb Raider is the landmark of Lara Croft reimagining. After the mythical Japanese island of Yamatai [Tomb Raider reboot from 2013] she sets forth on a journey to follow the myths and legends talking of immortality.

After having been face to face with death on Yamatai, Lara places herself amidst the utmost harsh and hostile environment, way up in deep Siberian mountains, namely in the search for the legendary city of Kitezh. But she is not alone, as she has a competitor in the race - the organization Trinity.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is not only a landmark in Lara’s development, but it is also the landmark of graphical realism in the Tomb Raider franchise.

Even though the game takes place mainly in the region of Siberia, and briefly visits the sandy ruins in Syria, Lara finds out that there’s more to exploration than meets the eyes. After having discovered the horrors of the gulags, she gets to explore lush green environments, watery, muddy ruins, utmost freezing snows, and breath-taking, deeply hidden ruins, in which light and shadow intertwine and create a magnificent show for the eyes and complex architecture unravels itself under the endless dusts of time. With all this brilliant visage that the game has to offer, which every brave young adventurer has wished to see for real, with their own eyes, one has the perfect opportunity to experience now, with the extremely enhanced features of the game on the Xbox One X.

Rise of the Tomb Raider has to offer about 40 hours of gameplay that immerse you in a greatly realistic environment, and a captivating plot. Along with that, you can take the time to explore, and find hidden secrets, collectibles and relics. You can pick up side quests along the way, and complete extra challenges. You can level up Lara and gather resources to upgrade all of her gear. You wouldn’t even notice you are doing it already, however, as the long forgotten environment welcomes you with open arms to have every inch of it explored once more!

Nonetheless, let’s not forget you have to prove you are a true archaeologist, as you need to use your wits in order to solve the environmental puzzles lying around, and listen closely for the chimes of the well-hidden tombs that beckon you. Lara must also read through monoliths and find ancient documents, to brush up her vocabulary in Mongolian or Russian, for example, in order to discover the hiding places of other collectibles. Should you ever get stuck, however, if you are well-observant, you might stumble upon the resting place of some previous adventurer, who has a map in his backpack, marked with points of interest.

Adding to all of the main game’s experience, is the Expedition mode, to which you can activate special features, which come in the form of virtual Expedition Cards, that could make the replay more spicy and challenging, or light and fun! Maybe add the feature ‘Gambler’ which adds a chance of the enemy corpses exploding when looted, or the ‘One Life to Live’ which would end the replay immediately when you die. Or add perks to Lara which max out your skills from the beginning, or start with fully upgraded gear, or add the ‘Lucky’ perk to have a chance of the enemy to drop rare loot. The possibilities and combinations are endless. By replaying you get to compete and challenge your friends to beat your scores for the respective Expedition.
